Panjim City which is the capital of Goa is located on the banks of the Mandovi river and it has beautiful locations along with concrete buildings. The churches along with river side promenades and with the stepped streets with long promenade makes it one of the best city in Goa. There are several Churches in the city and it is said to be elevated from a town to city on March 22, 1843. The city has planned grid system with Portuguese relocation from Velha Goa and putting the Panjim as the map of Goa with the city being called Nova Goa. The city has been renamed Panjim since 1960’s and it was earlier known as Pangim.
The city could be found to be one of the most happening one during the carnival or the Christmas time and if the weather is concerned then the tropical monsoon is the most favorable season and the weather is also hot and humid during the Summers and in Winters with heavy rainfall and gusty winds the temperatures reach upto 32 degree Celsius and during winter the temperature reaches upto 23 Degree Celsius. The Panjim City has various landmarks and the other tourist attractions are Adilshahi Palace along with Institute Menezes Braganza and the Mahalaxmi Temple with the Jama Masjid Mosque. The carnival celebrations is done during the month of February and the entire city reverberates into a great tune of music and laughter with lots of enjoyment. The Mala Area along with Miramar Beach along with Kala Academy is found to be one of the most visited tourist attractions in Goa. The other attractions are Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary along with Miramar beach which is one of the more crowded beach which remains full with international and local tourists thus making it a favorable tourists destinations in India.
Panjim or Panaji is the capital of the Goa state which is situated in north Goa district. It is also located on the bank of the Mandovi River. It is the largest populated city of the state which has approx 114,405 populations. The city has several educational institutes and Government offices.
