Mandovi River, Goa

The Mandovi River is the lifeline of the Goa state. This river source is Bhimgad (Belgaum district, Karnataka). Mhadei River flows from Dudhsagar Falls and Varapoha Falls. This river joins other Zuari River at the point Mormugao harbour. Panaji. Panjim city has Goa's largest bridge on Mandovi River which connected two cities Panjim and Porvorim. Mandovi River which is also known as Mahadayi or Mhadei River which can be described as the lifeline of Indian State of Goa. The Mandovi and Zuari are the two primary rivers which are in the state of Goa. The Mandovi rivers joins with the Zuari and it has a common creek at Cabo Aguada which also forms the Mormugao Harbour. Panaji, which is the state capital and also at the Old Goa where is the former capital of Goa and both of them are situated on the left bank of Mandovi. The river which has a length of 77 Kilometers and it originates from a cluster of 30 springs at Bhimgad in the Western Ghats at the Belagavi district of Karnataka.

The river manages the ecosystem of the entire coastal area and is very dear to the fisher community and it is called as Mahadayi or Mhadei River which is also described as the lifeline to Goa State. Panjim city which is located on the banks of the lovely river is also the state capital of Goa. The river offers a great promenade and it has many cruises on it with boats, ferries, floating casinos along with cruise ships. The river offers floating Casinos which benefits the large number of tourists and it has become a very large attraction. There is a bridge connecting Panjim and Porvorim with two bridges. A person can also cross ferries through Chorao or Divar islands. One can also say that it is worthwhile to take a ride by the river via Betim for a closer look of the river. The drive to Candolim offers a great view and it also gives the pretty sight along the waterfront on Panjim.
