Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park

Goa is a tropical paradise located in the western ghats of India. It is the smallest Indian state with a territory of 3,702 sq km. Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 60 km away from panaji. Though getting to the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is a little difficult; but it is adventurous for someone who wants to discover the quieter side of Goa in the midst of the woods and eventually the journey becomes well worth the trouble.

Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary: this Sanctuary covered areas are 240 kms and its location is south Goa. Sanctuary has a lot of different type birds, wildlife animals. Main attractions are Tambdi Waterfall, Devils Canyon, old Mahadeva Temple and Sunset Point. Sanctuary has different type butterflies as Common Mime, Blue Mormon, Plum Judy, Common Mormon and Common Jezebel.

Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife sanctuary is a 240 square kilometre protected area which is located on the western ghats of South India. The area is located near the town of Molem which is 57 Kilometres of the East of Panaji along the eastern borders of Karnataka. The parkland is also a home to the community of nomadic buffalo herders known as Dhangars. It was first known as the Molem game Sanctuary and it also contains pristine vegetation which is classified as West Coast Tropical Evergreen Forests with semi-evergreen forests and moist deciduous forests. The evergreen forests are mainly seen at the higher altitudes along the river banks. The plant species are Terminalia, Lagerstomeia along with Xylia and Dalbergia. There are lots of water resources which could be said perennial giving the help to animals and vegetation to flourish throughout the year around. The plant diversity includes a 37 species of Pleridophytes and other plants are also to be found in abundance in national park. The popular birds seen in the sanctuary includes a lot number of birds which are endemic to the Indian subcontinent along with other attractions as butterflies and reptiles which gives large numbers of geological, cultural and visitor service which makes it largest protected area in Goa.
