Braganza Mansion, South Goa

Braganza Mansion heritage house is located at Chandor village, south Goa (Salcete). This heritage house was built in 17th century by the Brangaza family during Portuguese rule period. This house built in Portuguese architect style. Tourists can visit this old and big house by request to owner or by request to Goa tourism department. Visitors can visit here old age time period furniture, windows, floors and other house's things. This big house also has a library which has 500 old book with bind by leather. These books are written in English, Portuguese and French languages. This village also has a small church.

Braganza House which names pull many people in India and abroad because of the name Mrs Breganza an iconic name of the ideal lady in Hollywood rather Bollywood reminds a greater name by the name of Braganza House. With the iconic construction build in 17th Century and has a great stretch with one side of the Chandor’s village square along with the biggest Portuguese mansion which makes Goa known and build by Portuguese and then the beauty of the state was developed in its full flow by Indians. Whether, the season is of Carnival or the glorious moments of Christmas people love to visit the Braganza House.

The Portugal King has passed on the land to the Braganza family and the oversized house was developed into West and East wings with the inheritance by two sisters from the same family. The both sides are open to the public which has made it a better museum and the set tour times is to be either side of the family member or the representative and the guided tour and regale with few stories which reminds of the lifestyle enjoyed by the people who use to dwell at this house. The considerable upkeep of the home is still done through donations and although there is no official funding.

The mansion if talked about the West wings belong to the Menezes-Bragancas and is maintained with more like museum with home that is filled with Belgian glass chandeliers which are of affluent styling and the marble floors with antique treasures from Macau along with Portugal, China and Europe which makes it a great treasure trove and speaks in volume itself about the people who reside here. The East-Wing of Periera-Braganza family and the other descendants with large ballroom with marble floor and the best thing is small family chapel with the best of the preserved fingernail of St. Francis Xavier.
