Anjediva Fort (Anjadip Island)

Anjediva Fort is off the coast of Indian State of Karnataka but still close to Goa and comes under its administrative jurisdiction with the fort which has a rich history and has also the Church of our Lady of The Springs. It is located at Anjadip Islands and the Fort has a rich history linked to the rule of Portuguese in India but now the Fort seems to be in ruins. The Fort has a strategic importance and it was the first permanent Portuguese representatives in India. The decision to build the fort was taken way back in 1502 A.D. as Vasco Da Gama favored this place and took a stopover for docking ships and repairing it.

The Fort is almost in ruins but a base for Indian Navy these days and while most of the Fort stands in ruins still some of the part is renovated and is used by the navy and the Fort is built at just 1.5 square Kilometre and the Fort is supposedly and currently uninhabited with the Kadamba Naval Base being a part of it. The Fort has lots of maintenance problems and it also faces bad weather due to proximity to the Sea but still is a place of great interest.

Anjediva Fort is located on Anjadip Island which is near of the Karnataka state coast. It is spread in 1.5 kilometers square area land. It was built in 1505 by Dom Francisco de Almeida Portuguese ruler. Now it is under control of the Indian Navy. This fort is in ruin condition now but not allow to visit to general public. The fort also has a Church of Our Lady of Springs which was built in 1505 by Portuguese. This fort was used to military purpose by Portuguese. This fort was populated from 1768 to 1843 but abandon after 1843 by threat of the enemy.
