Aguada Fort

Fort Aguada is one of the well-preserved seventeenth century fort and Portuguese Fort which stands in Go and is located at the Sinquerim beach, which overlooks the Arabian Sea. The fort was constructed in the year 1612 and is guarded against the Dutch and the Maratha. The ship which visited from this particular location in the ancient past took anchorage to get water from the fresh water stores. The fort got its name Aguada because of much water resources and the Mandovi river also flows by its side. The Fort Aguada could be found in many of the sailors list and the fort is actually divided in two segments with the upper part acted as fort and watering station while the lower part served as four-storey Portuguese Lighthouse. The fort has 79 cannons in it and the Portuguese use to closely guard the Fort until it got passed over to the Maratha. The Fort Aguada beach resort is renamed as The Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa which is now a Five Star Hotel which is owned by the Tata Group and is a part of an 88-acre land with the complex overlooking the Arabian Sea and the nearby attraction is a lighthouse along with Sinquerin beach.

Fort Aguada is located on Sinquerim Beach, North Goa district. The Fort was constructed in 1612 by Portuguese rulers to save from Marathas and Dutch invaders. Daily numbers of tourist come to visits its light house and Fort walls. Currently mostly Fort's lands covered by 'Fort Aguada Beach Resort' five stars hotels accommodation which owned The Indian Hotels Co. (TATA Group).

It is situated at the shore of the Mandovi River where it dropped into Arabian Sea. Portuguese used 79 cannons to protect this for from invaders. This fort also had 2,376,000 gallons water storage capacity to storage.

Light House Aguada: This fort also has a light house which was built in 1864. It is oldest light house in whole Asia continent.
